Shimon Sporn’s background & experience |
Shimon Sporn has researched Holocaust Survivors & their pre-war European Jewish communities for over 20 years. Before writing his first survivor’s biography, he interviewed most of his family elders and wrote down their pre-war and war time experiences. Soon he was offering his services to others. He is currently tracing the unknown graves of Jewish soldiers fallen in WWI in Croatia and Slovenia. The Israel based LaDOR VaDOR Holocaust Memoirs Project has published two of Shimon’s works: · The Muschel Family Legacy, covering a Jewish Polish family’s origins from the pre-war communities of Tarnow & Dombrowa Tarnowska, Poland, their survival of exile in Siberia and the rebuilding of their family in America after the war. It was published in 2014. · The Goldsmith Family Legacy, covering a family’s origins from the pre-war communities of Kapuvar and Budapest, Hungary, and their survival in Auschwitz and Mauthausen, published in 2013. His most recent publication is Hatzvi V’Hatzedek, Tel Aviv 2018, the biography & writings of Rabbi Hersh Dachowitz Z”L, from the Bialystok area. This project entailed extensive research in civil records of the Lomza, Bialystok, and Vilna districts.
